Welcome to the Islands of Inspiration Website. For many years I passed my evenings in a converted cupboard that I used as my darkroom. I have always enjoyed photography, and until recently I concentrated on developing my own black and white photographs. Today I use a digital camera and my computer is my 'darkroom.' No more nasty chemical fumes to deal with! I have been encouraged by friends and colleagues to sell my photographs and make them available to a wider audience. I resisted for a long time, however at last I have succumbed and built this website. As a Christian I have combined my love for my Saviour with my love for photography and the captivating scenery of the Western Isles. The Isle of Lewis and the Isle of Harris hold a natural beauty requiring no artificial enhancement. Landscape photography where the settings change daily! The prints are all on a high quality heavy weight matt photographic paper. Prints may be purchased as they are or with a Bible Verse, a verse from a Hymn or a Spiritual Song. Examples can be viewed on this website. The perfect gift for any occasion: Weddings, Mother's Days, Retirements etc. Thank you for taking the time to visit Islands of Inspiration. Iain Mackenzie Here are a few quotes from the Western Isles Tourist Board:- 'From the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, with miles of fine sandy beaches that you can often have all to yourself, The Outer Hebrides also known as Na h-eileanan an Iar or The Western Isles encompass some 130 miles of mountains and moor-lands, sea lochs and inland waters, rugged cliffs and breathtaking coastlines creating a vast variety of unique environments.' 'At the northern end of the Outer Hebrides, the Island of Lewis and the Island of Harris each have their own, unique characteristics and intrinsic identity although they share the same landmass.' 'On the Isle of Lewis both east and west coasts have rugged stretches of cliffs often giving way to huge beaches of clean white sand. Inland, the terrain is principally level moor-land dotted with fresh water lochs.' The Isle of Harris offers the contrast of a rocky coastline with high mountains to the east and a western shoreline which boasts many miles of unspoilt beaches stretching uninterrupted to the rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
